Architect
José Castro Silva
Born in Vila Nova de Gaia in 1977, José Castro Silva graduated from FAUP – Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto in 2003, having attended one year at FAUTL – Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon.
He has been a member of the OA – Order of Architects (n.º 11943N) since 2003, and an active member of the COB – College of Construction Management, Direction, and Supervision (n.º COB009) since 2012, where he served as Secretary and National Coordinator on its Executive Committee between 2014 and 2016. He has also been a member of the CPA – College of Architectural Heritage since 2016.
Technical Vanguard: Acoustics and Passivhaus
His innovative vision and focus on building performance are evident in various specializations. Since 2018, he has been a technician accredited by the OA to subscribe to Building Acoustics projects, demonstrating profound knowledge in designing environments with superior sound comfort. In 2020, he consolidated his vanguard by successfully completing the Passive House Tradesperson certification. This specialization, combined with his experience, culminated in the development of the Maia Municipal Police Station – the first certified public Passivhaus building in Portugal –, a milestone that establishes him as a pioneer in high-performance and sustainable construction in the national landscape.
Leadership and Project Diversity
A leader in multiple projects, his vast experience ranges from large-scale Industrial and Logistics platforms, to Hotels, Business and Residential Buildings, and Single-Family Houses, including commercial stands and graphic design.
Managing all phases, from planning to completion, including project development, execution drawings, construction administration, and construction fiscal consulting, José Castro Silva has proven ability to lead teams and simultaneously manage various projects of varying complexity.
